DesignJet Error 500 Cartridge Not Recognised
Under normal operating conditions the DesignJet 500 or DesignJet 800 will show all inks as being good and working correctly.
The ink cartridges are all working correctly and have a good amount of ink Should the machine detect an ink cartridge failure it will indicate this with a flashing X in the appropriate postion.
This condition can be caused by a couple of things:
1. A faulty ink cartridge. Refilled cartridges are very popular and why not at a fraction of the cost. However, they can cause problems with the Ink Supply Station (ISS). The easy way to resolve this is to replace the cartridge. One draw back from this is - If the problem is with the ISS it will flag the chip on the new cartridge as faulty - consequently the cartridge will not seat.
2. Faulty Ink Supply Station. The ISS can develop a fault where it does not read the ink catrridges correctly. Installing a new cartridge only flags the new one as faulty. The only remedy for this is to repalce the Ink Supply Station.
